Creating The Beauty Party

Happy Holidays! Welcome to The Beauty Party Blog.

December 20, 2010 – One year ago, I was forced to make a decision about my business. All of the planning, hard work and optimism could not save its home. I was dealing with electrical shut offs, lack of heat and a difficult landlady. By February 2010, I knew I needed to revamp my services—photo shoots, hair, makeup, workshops and marketing—without a physical location.

Closing the location—packing, moving and repainting–was not an easy task. I decided a hiatus was the best method to regain a sense of direction. I had an aha moment—put more energy into my business despite relinquishing the space or seek non-entrepreneurial employment. The Beauty Party was born during the hiatus but the latter choice seemed like the right step at the time. I applied for jobs and was quickly referred to a small business that was expanding.

After the interview, I was hired and asked to start when renovation was complete. I waited for one month and after two days of work I was fired over the phone. Reason: too professional but very nice. My professionalism was not welcomed. To this day, I thank the owner for not realizing my worth and setting me free of misery. I decided to focus on my business with a new energy.

The Beauty Party was an idea and I wanted anonymity. But, tweeps on Twitter—my favorite social networking site—asked me if @thebeautyparty was mine and why not let others know that I created it. My reason: I am an introvert—full-time mother—and love the behind-the scenes more than the limelight. I realized after being ousted that The Beauty Party and I were not ready. The decision to postpone the scheduled event (October 2010) was my desire for it to be successful, not second rate.

Businesses, services and products begin with an idea then a vision. I had to envision The Beauty Party, its message and how I wanted to promote it. I decided on a website, Twitter and Facebook accounts to introduce the concept. The website is progressing. November and December were the busiest months—Green Beauty, Business Report, Beauty Professionals Directory, Brand Directory, Forum and Blog.

There are 133,000,000+ blogs and 1.67+ billion Internet users. People are searching for uplifting messages, great ideas, inspiration and motivation. My focus is to share empowering messages about inner and outer beauty and how to promote the same or like messages in communities.

Bringing an idea to life takes dedication. The Beauty Party encompasses a journey of seeing beauty beyond societal standards. What we feel about ourselves can bring out the best or worst in us and manifest in our outer beauty. We can have greater self-love, respect, worth and confidence about who we are by accepting the woman or man in the mirror. The Beauty Party embraces beautiful people everywhere. It celebrates, educates and empowers all of us because we are beautiful.

With or without a home for photo shoots, hair, makeup, workshops and marketing services, I have no regrets about 2010. I am happy that the positive messages about beauty are not confined to my studio. I am proud that the creation phase of The Beauty Party moved into the development zone.

In 2011, The Beauty Party event will be in New York City, Atlanta, Los Angeles and London. Attendees will participate in education workshops and celebrate beauty. A Day of Beauty Education and Celebration will inspire professionals and enthusiasts to think inner and outer beauty and feel beautiful or handsome every day.
